Full Moon, New Moon, total eclipse…..
This most heavenly of celestial bodies isn’t just a stunningly beautiful, silvery globe, you know, designed by the gods of Olympus, just to look pretty, chilling way up there in the sky – oh, no siree, indeed oh, no!
Without the nurturing powers of our Mother Moon, this good ol’ planet we call Earth would’ve been left to go up and down the ol’ proverbial, without
a paddle in sight, many an eon ago!!
Dr Maggie Aderin Pocock (who, incidentally, is as barking bonkers about outer space as I am) explains all in “Do We Really Need the Moon?” in terms of how and why our moon plays such a key role in sustaining life. If the moon governs our tides of the sea, then surely, given we humans are predominantly made up of water, we must also be affected by the phases of the moon. It stands to reason …. anyway, if you’ve not seen it, get yourself streaming on BBC iPlayer, asap!
In the meantime, how about I share with you some tried and tested rituals that may provide food for thought, for our next full moon (3/3) and new moon (19/3), respectively…
The FULL MOON is a time of heightened emotions, intense tension and inspired action; a great time to celebrate our wins and the perfect time to release and forgive.
- Purify your space, both physically and mentally
- Engage in meditation or prayer
- Let go of whatever isn’t or doesn’t serve you
- Catch up on tasks proactively
- Rest and relax
- Emotions are high, don’t start anything new
- Stay calm, don’t over-react
- Avoid any impulsive decision-making
The NEW MOON is a time of new beginnings, introspection, quiet reflection and planning, rather than action; energy levels tend to be lower, so a good time to focus on self-care and to set goals.
- Set a worthwhile intention
- Light a candle
- Begin something new
- Go on a first date
- Make a list
- Create a sacred space
- Design your own ritual
- Stick with what you care about
- Be open/curious about new people
- Accept unexpected opportunities
- Spend time with energy zappers
- Avoid all energy sappers!
