Help!

It really is ok to ask for help, and just as ‘The Beatles’ sang, “Won’t you please, please, help me”, it’s vital that we recognise how important such a request is.

One of the most absurd things we do to ourselves is not ask for the help we need from a friend, a family member, or even our Higher Power, when we really need it.

Whether the thing we need is information, encouragement, a hand, a word, a lift, a hug, an ear, a ride, a laugh, all we need to be able to do is ask.

It is so self-defeating to not ask for help when we need it. It just keeps us stuck. If we ask long and hard enough, if we direct our request to the right source, we always get the help we need. It arrives on time, every time!

There is, however, a massive difference in having someone rescue us, as opposed to asking someone in a direct manner for the help we need from them. We can be clear and straightforward, allowing others to choose whether to help us or not. If the answer comes back as a ‘no’, it’s ok, we can deal with that.

……. BUT!!….to hint, whine, manipulate or coerce all manner of help from people…. well, that’s just self-defeating, not to mention, downright insulting and annoying! To go to people as the victim and to expect them to rescue you is so unhealthy. Ask them, specifically, for the precise help you need, when you need it – that’s the healthy way – and for those of you who are always ready and eager to help others…… why not allow yourselves the luxury to occasionally receive some help, too? You know it makes sense!
